Residents United Forum brings together representatives of different local community groups to ensure disabled residents, carers and their families voices are heard and their views actioned when developing
Our group is led by Newham residents with lived experiences as disabled people and carers.

A Newham where every disabled person can fulfil their potential, live independently, and participate fully in community life — equal with everyone, in every aspect of society.
🎯 Our Mission
We work towards this vision by following these core principles:
Empowerment: Disabled people are empowered and not discriminated against.
Voice: Disabled people’s voices are heard, listened to, and acted upon.
Choice & Access: Disabled people can make their own decisions, with clear information and support.
Respect & Dignity: Disabled people are valued, and treated with respect and dignity.
👥 Who We Include
By “Disabled People” we mean:
- People with physical impairments, sensory impairments, mental distress or mental health issues.
- People with learning difficulties or learning disabilities.
- People with long-term health conditions or hidden impairments.
- People living with HIV or AIDS.
- People who use or have used drug or alcohol services.
- Disabled people of all ages, including children, young people and parents.
🌏 Our Goals
Our ultimate goal is to create a Centre for Independent Living for Newham, but we know this will take many years to achieve.
